Fund Raising Events and Donations
As soon as the foundation was mooted donations started flowing in and instead of flowers, mourners at Caspar's funeral were asked to donate to Sobell House. Mmany did so but a good number of people preferred to wait until the foundation was established so that their contributions could go to a cause close to Caspar's heart. This set us up well and we have since gone from strength to strength.
In the immediate future we have Caspar's CD 'Souls and Shadows' to sell which should make a significant contribution to our resources. See the page 'Caspar's Music' for further details, to listen the title track and if you wish buy the CD online.
During 2007 Norman Cook aka 'Fatboy Slim' geneously donated some of his old computer recording equipment to the Foundation. Apart from the speakers which have been donated to Ellenor Hospice at Home there were no offers for the remaining equipment and it has now been sold on Ebay raising £700.00
For the 2007 Bicester Village Jazz Festival we had 2000 Lilac PVC wristbands produced with 'Souls and Shadows' debossed on each one. We still have some remaining and a photograph of one is shown below: -
They can be bought for £2.00 each including post and packing by using the PayPal 'Buy Now' button below: -
During 2008 Margaret Eadle celebrated her 60th birthday in May and guests' donations in lieu of presents were shared equally with Cancer Research UK. In addition the Eadle family again this year generously donated half the money raised at their Annual Fencott Bridge Summer Fun Day/Salsa Festival to us. In total the amount donated was £225.00 .
The Polo, Pimms and Picnic event at Kirtlington Polo Park organised by Christine Prior was a great success despite the drizzle. Gross Receipts amounted to £4925 which was excellent although it could have been more if all programme advertisers had met their obligations. Printing costs were £160.00 so the net addition to foundation funds was £4765.00. Many thanks to Christine for suggesting the event and doing much of the organising.
Claire Drewett's 30th Bithday Celebration on 18th October raised just over £154.00 - so many thanks to Claire and her generous guests.
The Foundation was the nominated charity for the second year running at the Temperley Samples Sales in London. On the first occasion £275.00 was raised, all crammed into to one small shaker collection bottle! The second sale raised a further £505.00 and the last one in March 2010 raised afurther £450. That's an incredible total of £1230 so many thanks to Alice Temperley and the team for their continued support.
In 2010, Catherine Eadle is running a Marathon in April and half her sponsorship money will come to Souls and Shadows with the other half going to the Helen and Douglas House Hospice. She has already raised over £1000 and is heading towards £1500 - a truly sterling effort all round .Here is the link to her 'Just Giving' sponsorship page
The Pathmen Walkers, comprising Paul, Louis, Colin, Cliff and Bill (otherwise known as 'The Grumpy Old Men') will be walking another 100 miles or so of the 'Camino de Santiago' in Spain during a week in May (they have done over 200 miles already) and eliciting sponsorship from their vast social circle of friends and former colleagues. There is now a link for donations on the Just Giving website and the hyperlink is : -
