Victoria kindly prepared a report on the course and this is shown below: -
'The course was incredibly useful. It was pitched with exactly the right balance of theoretical and experiential work. The weekend included a talk from a lady who had experienced song writing within her personal experience of music therapy. Meeting and hearing from this lady helped to bring the course alive and made the experience feel more real.
The general sense from everyone on the course was that of excitement to start using the tool of song writing within our own working contexts. I certainly felt this, and feel that the skills introduced on the course will play an essential part in my work with juvenile offenders. Bob and Jane’s knowledge and experiences allowed for a rich learning experience. However their delivery allowed me to feel enabled and not intimidated by their expertise.
I think I left feeling struck by how powerful and releasing song writing can potentially be. The weekend was thoroughly interesting and enjoyable and has given me confidence to begin using song writing skills within my own work. I am looking forward to the follow up day in May to hear people’s work and experiences, and no doubt gain more knowledge.'
